As we wave goodbye to the last of the jubilant guests attending our Secrets Helping Hands Fundraiser Raffle Morning Tea, it’s time for me to take a deep breath and reflect on our last few months efforts to raise money for three local charities. I’d like to take this quiet moment to thank every person who purchased a ticket in our prize draw, donated a prize for the raffle, sold tickets on our behalf, or attended today for the morning tea event. In our eyes you are all rock stars… and with your help we have been able to raise over $10 000 for those that need it in our community!
We had over 100 guests grace Dining on the Deck’s tables for the morning tea extravaganza. Chef Mat and his talented team cooked up a storm in preparation, and our smiling patrons plates were piled high with sweet and savoury treats. My daughter in law Sarah was MC for the event and had us all chuckling away with her antics and good humour. Representatives from Lily House, The Shack and Maleny Neighbourhood Centre also entertained and gave us the insider information on the amazing things their dedicated group of volunteers do for those in need in our community.
Our prize winners were…
1st Prize goes to Michelle, who has won a 2 night midweek stay in one of our luxury treehouses with champagne breakfast basket, welcome plate of scones with jam and cream, and hot croissants or muffins delivered each morning.
2nd Prize goes to Ross, who won a one night stay in one of our luxury treehouses with all the breakfast extras
3rd and 4th Prizes of $100 vouchers for our Dining on the Deck café went to Chelsea and to Judy. Congratulations!
Our main lucky door prize of another one night midweek stay in a luxury treehouse went to Irene, who excitedly informed us that it was also her birthday! The ‘Infamous’ Burlesque show also donated 4 passes to their production over the next few weeks, and 2 of our lucky attendees walked away looking forward to being entertained by this talented troupe.
We would like to thank a few people for their prize donations… Louise from Mane Hair and Beauty for her $100 voucher, Siggi Cairns for donating some of her popular Jewellery, and Dominique Lambert for donating a beautiful painting that raised an extra $200 for the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre.
As I mentioned today, the world goes around on kindness and community. We thank everyone for their support of our Helping Hands fundraiser… and feel very humbled and grateful to be able to do our small part to help out Lily house, The Shack and Maleny Neighbourhood Centre with some badly needed financial assistance. If you missed out on the raffle… its not too late to put hands in pockets or donate some of your talents and time to these worthy local charities!
