SECRETS ON THE LAKE

DINING ON THE DECK

We all need a break sometimes. It’s a fast-paced world and it doesn’t stop spinning just because we get weary and a little worn down at times. But a getaway needs to be more than just four walls and a bed. It needs to include more than just a place to stay. It’s about an amazing experience, plenty of activity options, and hosts that welcome you back like old friends.

Secrets on the Lake in the heart of the Sunshine Coast hinterland offers you so much more than just the gloriously comfortable queen bed in a luxury treehouse on the shores of Lake Baroon. Secrets is just a 5 minute drive from the tourist town of Montville and 20 minutes from Maleny, and 30 minutes to some of the best beaches in the world. Its central position makes it a perfect base to explore all the hinterland has to offer.

Secrets on The Lake | The Perfect Annual Holiday

A stay at Secrets is an experience from the very first moment you arrive and are personally escorted to your treehouse along the hand carved elevated rainforest boardwalk. Our cabins are beautifully designed with amazing attention to detail and no expense spared. Experience tranquillity like never before from your treehouse deck with views of the pristine rainforest, fabulous manicured gardens and
Lake Baroon.

Our guests delight in the creativity and artistry of the carving, blacksmithing and stained-glass work individually theming each unique treehouse. In fact, many guests make us their annual holiday coming back year after year to try out each different treehouse! A short 5 minute walk from Secrets is the entrance to The Great Walks trails of the Sunshine Coast. You can explore the National Park and will find Obi Obi Gorge lookout, Lake Baroon lookout, waterfalls and fresh flowing water swimming holes on the way. Regardless of your fitness level there’s a suitable trek for everyone.

Secrets on The Lake | The Perfect Annual Holiday

From the Great Walks entrance, it’s approximately 1 & 1/2 hours to the Obi Obi Gorge lookout where you can see a waterfall, and a little further to Lake Baroon Lookout which looks back to a panoramic view of Mountains and the Lake. But if you want a short walk then about 500m from the walks entrance take a left turn to walk down to the Obi Obi Creek. From there you rock hop across and walk a short distance to the swimming hole where you can sit under a waterfall. The water in the creek is always flowing so it is mountain fresh and exhilarating.

While you can walk to Kondalilla falls from either direction, it is more strenuous from our end, so we suggest starting from Kondalilla National Park and walking back to Secrets and the Great Walk Entrance. We have a Walkers Package which includes a picnic backpack, delivery to Kondalilla National Park where you can enjoy the Iconic Kondalilla Falls and after a beautiful half day experience relax in your treehouse with a BBQ on your deck for your evening meal.

For those who don’t want to tear themselves to far away from the magic of their treehouse for two, you can experience free activities on site. Try your luck on our antique full-size billiard table, check out the art gallery, go canoeing, or try your hand at catching a fish in the fully stocked lake. Take a stroll or picnic in our lush gardens and enjoy snuggling together on one of our swing seats. There are also options to have a Boho Picnic or Lakeside Interlude… often a romantic opportunity for a proposal or to
surprise as a gesture for an anniversary, birthday or just because.
